The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for performing diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment. This role supports safety, quality, and operational goals by ensuring equipment reliability through preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance practices.
This position is designated as Safety Sensitive.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Safety

Follow and support Safety Management System.

Comply with all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.

Report unsafe acts or conditions immediately.

Prevent environmental hazards such as leaks, spills, or drips.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Clean up work areas after completing tasks.
Quality

Support Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949, if applicable).

Follow all documented maintenance procedures.

Recommend procedural improvements through preventive action programs.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and spare parts inventory.
Operations

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on machinery, equipment, and facility systems.

Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs during production.

Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.

Repair or replace defective components and test system functionality.

Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.

Detect and report faulty operations or unusual conditions.

Perform general facility maintenance (light plumbing, painting, minor repairs).

Coordinate with vendors and contractors when necessary.

Maintain detailed repair and preventive maintenance records.

Maintain dependable attendance and professional communication.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to read, write, and understand English.

Proficient in reading digital and manual measurements.

Working knowledge of hand tools and manufacturing equipment.

Ability to disassemble and repair machinery and equipment.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Ability to read blueprints and technical documentation.

Cutting and welding skills required.

Basic electrical repair skills required.

Basic computer skills preferred.

Working knowledge of PLCs, automation systems, industrial hydraulics, and plant maintenance systems preferred.
Education & Experience

High School Diploma or GED required.

Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience.

Formal mechanical training or certification preferred.

Welding certification preferred.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crawl, and climb throughout the shift.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Ability to work in extreme hot or cold environments.

Ability to work in confined spaces.

Must be able to hear changes in equipment sounds (pitch changes in pumps and motors).

Requires close, distance, peripheral, and depth vision.

Must be willing to work overtime and mandatory call-ins as needed.
